What’s that, you say? “Hollywood” (shorthand for people who are famous in some way, shape, or form) generally skews in favor of voting for President Barack Obama ? Well, do you have evidence… besides all those fundraisers and celebrity endorsements? 90 Days, 90 Reasons , you say? Oh, okay. Here’s what that is: McSweeney’s, the publisher that has brought you Grantland and works from countless acclaimed writers like Michael Chabon and Stephen King , has launched a new website by that name, solely dedicated to convincing readers to vote for Obama this November. The site is called 90 Days, 90 Reasons because it will feature one new essay from a different celebrity each day leading up to the election. Scarborough: Politicians, President Continue Letting Troops Die In Afghanistan For Political Reasons

Image
Prompted by last night’s slaying of three American troops stationed overseas, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough expressed his frustration and anger over the ongoing situation in Afghanistan. American Special Forces, as Mika Brzezinski reported, has been invited to dinner meeting by a local police commander. As they were eating, the Afghan official and his cohorts opened fire on the troops. “Why are we there?” asked Scarborough. “We’ve been asking for three years. Only the President can be the per...

Who is this man who loves enterprise coverage? Is he just dull? Ha! If you think I am dull, so be it. I’ll gladly keep covering the enterprise. Here are five reasons why: It’s so much fun to write about Larry Ellison . Ever see this video about what he says about the cloud? The best thing about covering Larry is that the guy is hilarious and absolutely full of it. Apps don’t suck anymore . It’s awesome to see people get to use technology that they actually like. Enterprise giants have historically made software that is awful to use. “Spending every day making someone’s life easier is awesome,” writes Dan Shipper. “Especially when that someone actually wants to pay you for it.” Writing about those cool apps is always something I find of interest. You can  no longer separate work and your personal life.  Our work and home...

Find him on Talent Connection and connect with Cachinko on Facebook or Twitter. For all its efforts to adopt new technology and adapt to the communication tools and needs of the candidate pool, recruiting overall is still in the dark ages. Candidate submits resume and cover letter, recruiters select the candidates based on their hiring materials, on paper or their online application they seem like a good fit, so you advance them to the interview. You spend the time and money to interview, but you still have only a 50/50 chance that the candidate you selected is a good fit. The problem here is that candidate selection still is a veritable tossing of the coin by the time you reach the interview stage. This is a waste of time and is fraught with error. I guarantee you are overlooking qualified applicants. To reduce that chance...
